Please miss me with that “with hard work, anyone can be wealthy” bullshit.
Do y’all know how many people work harder than you could imagine, yet end up not achieving their goals, or even achieving anything that could truly be called “success”? Do you know how many families toil and toil away and still live check to check? Do you know how many people, often as a byproduct of systemic oppression, make no inroads to wealth despite their best efforts?
Don’t get me wrong: hard work is good. Rigor is good. It is honorable and right to put genuine effort into doing quality work, but as an end to itself. If success results from it, then that’s great. But a world where “anyone” can be wealthy with hard work doesn’t exist yet.
Stop lying to people.
I was literally just thinking about this.
